2025 Registration and Contest Dates
Registration for the 2025 Regional Competitions is now open! Students and teachers can register until Tuesday, February 25th at 11:59 PM. Judge registration will remain open indefinitely. On this page you'll find contest dates and deadlines, regional assignments, student registration caps per school, and more.

Unavoidable Conflicts
If you have a unavoidable conflict with your assigned contest date, please email us at nhd@sxwx168.net to explain your situation. Our Scheduling Conflict Info Sheet offers an overview of the options available and we will work with you to find a solution. All scheduling requests must be received no later than Tuesday, February 25th.
Please note that in group websites, group documentaries, and group exhibits, a minimum of one student in the group needs to attend the interview, but not everyone needs to be there! For group performances, all group members must attend.
Registration Fees
We want to reduce or eliminate as many barriers to participation in the contests as possible. Thanks to support from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we are continuing with our reduced fees of $10/student for both the regional and state competitions. We also offer registration fee waivers for students who request them by filling out the form at the link.
Student Registration Per School
Each school (with several exceptions*) may send up to the following number of projects to their Regional Contest in each category (Screen reader friendly version):
*These limits do not apply to schools in their first year of participation in NHD Massachusetts competitions.
These registration caps exist to ensure a fair and manageable Regional competition for all participants. In certain situations we can also make exceptions; please email us if you have any questions.
Travel Assistance
Need help getting to the state contest? Please get in touch! We are prepared to offer bus stipends to cover the costs of transportation to the Regional and State contests as well as other accommodations upon request. Please email us at nhd@sxwx168.net for more information.
NHDWebCentral
Students creating websites must use the NHD website builder, NHDWebCentral, to compete at Regional and State Competitions this year. If you have any questions about student websites, please email us at nhd@sxwx168.net.
National Contest
The National Contest will be held in June 2025 at the University of Maryland College Park, dates TBA.
